CBS cut 'Medium' order down to 13 episodes

I guess even for Friday, 'Medium' numbers are way too low. From Deadline Hollywood

Medium cheated death once in 2009 when CBS rescued it after its cancellation by NBC. But the ghost crime drama might now be coming to an end after a respectable 7-season run on two networks. CBS today cut the order to the series starring Patricia Arquette to 13 episodes. While it has not been cancelled as CBS is keeping its options open, its chances for renewal are considered slim. In a similar fashion, CBS last year cut the order to Friday drama Numbers before canceling it in May. The CBS TV Studios-produced Medium, which has made a lot of money for CBS through its syndication deal with Lifetime, has been the lowest-rated series on CBS this fall following its move from 9 PM to 8 PM on Friday (though it had been inching up in the ratings in the past couple of weeks). With CBS recently picking up all 5 of its freshman series, it had to open up some shelf space for the 3 more series it has ordered for midseason. After fulfilling Medium's 13-episode order, creator and showrunner Glenn Gordon Caron will focus on developing for CBS TV Studios where he is under an overall deal.

My guess is that CBS will move The Defenders in Medium time slot and make room on Wednesday 10:00PM for the Criminal Minds Spin off.

CBS gives full season to all its new Shows!

I'm a bit late with this news but CBS did just as NBC did, renew all its new shows! Did $#*! My Dad Says or The Defenders, Hawaii 5-0, Blue Bloods and Mike and Molly deserve a full season? Let's have a look at the season average for all of those shows compared to CBS season average.

CBS Season average in viewers: 11.83 million viewers demo 3.0

Blue Blood: 11.72 million viewers, demo 1.9
$#*! My Dad Says: 10.78 million viewers, demo 3.3
Mike & Molly: 11.44 million viewers, demo 3.7
Hawaii 5-0: 12.16 millions viewers, demo 3.4
Defenders: 10.36 million viewers, demo 2.5

Of all those shows, Blue Blood is on Friday so the expectations are lower especially in the demo 18-49. Blue Blood deserve the full season.

Mike & Molly is just below CBS average in viewers but well ahead in demo. Mike & Molly was never in danger of not getting a full season order.

Hawaii 5-0 numbers are good as average, well over CBS average in viewers and demo but unlike Mike & Molly, 5-0 is losing viewers every weeks. Is that all cause by people DVRing shows at 10:00pm? From the numbers I have seen, yes.

The only show that shouldn't be getting a full season is The Defenders. It is way below CBS average in viewers and demo, despite having a lead in that does have a 14.212 million viewers and a demo of 3.7. Yes, lik Hawaii 5-0, The Defenders is a 10:00pm show and thus is well DVred, right? The last DVR numbers for the Defenders had an increase of 1,652 million viewers and under a 0.7 in the demo ( number not available since the show didn't make the top 25 shows). The Defenders gets just enough viewers to get a full seasn but its demo don't justify it. My guess is that CBS did give The Defenders a full season because it will move it into the Friday 8:00pm slot once the Criminal Minds Spin Off is ready to take its place on Wednesday 10:00pm after Criminal Minds.

TORONTO – CBS moving "The Big Bang Theory" to Thursday paid off for broadcaster CTV, which pulled in 3.11 million viewers, the second most-watched ever for a comedy on Canadian TV after the finale of "Friends."

"Big Bang" delivered a 36% share with A25-54 viewers, according to BBM Canada PPM data, on Thursday night at 8 p.m. in simulcast with its CBS airdate south of the border.

CTV last season had "The Big Bang Theory" on Monday nights, and shifted the comedy to Thursday nights in step with CBS.

The geeky comedy did more than double the audience of Fox's "Bones" on rival Global Television with 1.74 million total viewers, CTV reported.

What will I be watching tonight?

Not much to watch from 8:00 to 9:00 but at 9:00 will watch The Event on NBC then will have a look at Hawaii 5.0, if I don't like the new O'Loughlin show then, I'll give The Chase a look.

The promos for The Event and Hawaii 5.0 look pretty good, really made me want to watch unlike the one for The Chase or Mike and Molly. But, having a great looking promo, even a great pilot does not ensure that the series will be good. Flash Foreward and V are the most recent exemples of great promos and pilotes but the actual series were not that interesting.
